Another day of rail trail bagging had me headed to southwest NH. I'd plotted out a bunch of trails to do with a few more two-fers and four that I'd only run 1 mile at (as they were very small sections and all close to each other in Harrisville).
I was on the road at 5:30am aiming to be running around sunrise. It'd be 33 degrees and foggy when I got to Jaffery for the Monadnock Rail trail which I picked up in downtown Jaffery and was still treated to a nice section with a foggy lake.
Next up was the Peterborough rail trail, where I choose to head North and got a mostly paved path and a tunnel under route 13.
Then it was on to Harrisville for some scenic but short segments of rail trail. Jaquith was a bit rough with a fair amount of routes and some ties still on the ground.
Eastview had some nice wide path that looked to have recently added a layer of packed earth.
Skatutakee lake was a nice section (although the sound of gunfire had me wondering where my hunter orange hat was).
The final segment was from the Chesham Depot. Although only a 1/2 mile it was a very scenic section. Thank you to the owners of the Depot who allow parking and access to the trail.
Then it was back to 3 mile runs with a nice one on the Asheulot and the Fort Hill rail trail. The Fort hill ran between route 63 and the Connecticut river. It was kind of funny that on Friday I was up in Pittsburg NH at the headwaters of the CT and now I was at the border with Mass, so essentially both ends of the river in NH.
I finished the day on Hurricane road picking up the Cheshire rail trail. I picked the right direction and got to climb for the first 1.5 miles and a nice descent to the finish.
