Looking back - 1984

August 1984 - 30 years ago:

I got in 312 miles during the month with three days off and raced twice, one a long 5 mile and one a short 5 mile (8km). On the 5th I took second place at the Jim Witt (an Auto Dealership in Lowell) 5 mile in 24:53. Charlie Spedding (GBR) won using the race as a "hard workout" and a week later he ran 2:09 to take third at the Olympics Marathon in Los Angeles.

Two weeks later I took 20th place at the Agawam Twilight 8k running 23:56. I went out hard (4:36) and followed that with miles of 4:51, 4:47, 4:53, and 4:49.
