Although this is billed at the 25th annual Wachusett Mountain race it is actually the 35th running of the race (and yes, the 25th annual). The race was first held in 1978 (twice!) and held annual until 1986. After a break the race reemerged in 1993 and has been held since then. I’ve amassed all kinds of stats (mostly for my own amusement). The category winners and most finishes need to be taken with a grain of salt as prior to 1996 I only have results that were listed in the CMS newsletter. Of the nearly 7,000 finishers over 34 years I’ve got all but 700 of them captured.
