Weak field at Mt Washington again

I'm not sure why the last 5 years have seen such a decline in the depth at Mt Washington.  Maybe the entry fee or the prize money?   Chart below shows men on the left and women on the right with number of runners under each one of the times.  It was the weakest men's field in the last 20 years and one of the weakest women's fields over the same time-frame.  Again, not sure why the trend has gone this way but sad to see such a great race decline.
