Age Graded results

AG results from the road mile nationals.  Not sure why they only give the % but don't give the age-graded time.  Mine would be 4:23.

Best age graded 5k

Since turning 50 I've only run faster than 17:51 (which I ran last week) 14 times.  Although this was my 15th fastest 5k since 50 it is my fastest age graded result.  I'll take it!

CARS age graded current standings

The CARS (Capital Area Race Series) has $$$$ for the top age graded masters.  It is going to be a close battle all year if we can all get/stay healthy.  Since the scoring is "Best 4 of 8" races it will be wide open right up 'til the end in September.  Some who have missed a race or two already could move back into the top positions.

Best 10 mile - based on age grading

The 10 mile last weekend was my 2nd fastest as a senior (50+ age group).  When using the age grading tables it comes out as my best performance since turning 50.  It doesn’t quite match what I ran when I was an open runner but isn’t too far out of the range.  I took my best 10 mile times from every year and age graded those as well (I’ve run 70 ten mile races but many of those are trail or mountain – The Rivah and Pack Monadnock - which are notoriously slower than roads).  Interestingly my range of age graded percent as a younger runner was 77 – 88 and as a senior it has been 77 – 85.

Mt Washington - actual vs age graded

I thought it'd be interesting to see my age graded Mt Washington versus my actual times.  I knew that my 2010 time would be my worst (I was hurt most of the year and lucky to be able to even run).  The surprise was how even or even faster my age grade times have gotten.  So although I've slowed considerably after 2001, I've been pretty steady since then.
