2016 Mountain series half-way point

Half-way through the Mountain Circuit

Four of 8 races have been completed in the 2016 USATF NE mountain circuit.  The 50-59 age group has had some great competition so far with a different winner at each race and some very close finishes.  The different styles of mountain racing include: up only, up/down, road, trail, and a mixture of all of these.  Some are stronger on trail, others can descend like madmen, and others prefer a long steady climb.  As such each race may be suited to different runners.  The competition is scored on a “best 6 of 8” so you can miss up to two races and still compete for top honors.  I’ve posted the actual scores elsewhere (scoring is a percent of the winners time), but thought it’d be interesting to see totals based on finishing place in the 50+ at each race.

The action should be very intense at the next race (Loon Mountain) which also serves as the U.S. Mountain running championships.
