USATF New England has a number of series
that include (among others) the New England championship in various disciplines
and distances. The road racing Grand Prix featured 6 races from 5km to
the marathon. The mountain series had 8 races ranging from 2 miles of up
only to 8 miles of up & down. The cross-country series had 5 races,
most of which were 5km, ranging from inside Route 128 to the wilds of Western
MA to scenic Stowe VT. Last but not least was the All-Terrain Series
which featured 7 races over snow, road, trail, track, mountain, and XC.
There was some cross-over between series (the ATR included races in the road,
XC, and Mountain series), I gave credit for a finish in each series so there is
a little bit of double counting.
The maximum total number of races would
be 26. No one ran all 26 but 16 runners did half of the maximum and 39
runners completed at least 10 series races. Since I love stats here is
what I came up with.
