CMS Weekly 5k

I’m planning on racing at the CMS weekly 5k in Worcester this weekend.  I ran there a bunch of times in 1993 as I was aiming for 26 series finishes to bag a sweatshirt.  I got my 26, but not all of them were at Worcester as they also had some summer races in Sterling and Fitchburg.  I’ve had pretty good luck in Worcester winning 13 times in Worcester in 1993.  The 3 times I didn’t win that year were days before I was racing elsewhere and took it easy.  I picked up another win in 2009 which was the last time I’ve raced in one of the series.  I set the course record of 14:36 in 1992 when the certified version of the course was used for the USATF-NE (then NEAC) 5km championships.

It should be fun to go back to the same loop and see where my training is at.  I’m hoping to break 18 minutes.
