Looking back - 30 years ago

30 years ago (January 1991) - I ran seven races during January of 1991, ranging from 1 mile to 5 miles. I placed first in six of them and the other was a relay. I started the year with a 24:17 for 5 miles at the 9th annual Hangover 5 mile race, taking 30 seconds off of my course record from the year before.

1 Dave Dunham              24:17
2 Mark Kimball                26:18
3 George Gagnon            27:01
4 John Lahoud                27:44
5 Ken Millette                  28:41
1f Martina Kimball            29:54

On 01/05/91 I ran fast enough to win in a tie with Steve Peterson running 16:23 at the Fudgsicle series 5k and then headed to the Dartmouth relays for an evening race. I led off a 4x1mile team with Brad Hurst, Gary Wallace and Artie Demers running 4:20, 4:30, 4:34, and 4:50 respectively. The next day I won the open mile in 4:20.6 (Artie took 10th in 4:28.1). I returned to Tewksbury (Fudgsicle) two more times winning in 15:59 (01/19/91) and 16:17 (01/26/91) and closed out the month with a victory at the Penacook Winter challenge 5m the next day (01/27/91) where I ran 24:53.
