Looking back - April 2003

20 years ago: (April 2003) I only raced twice during this month.  Struggling with illness and injury.  First up was the SEA 5k in Concord NH.  Kevin Beck, Dan Verrington and I decided we’d go out hard and then Beck would win the race. Conditions were awful with drizzle and sleet and the course icy in spots.  We put two minutes on the next guy and Beck took the win.

I closed out the month running the 5k Groton Road race.  My notes on the race stated “felt awful from start to finish”.  I ran pretty much alone the entire race with fourth place 13 seconds ahead and sixth place 35 seconds behind me.
