Sub-8s

I run on the Methuen rail trail pretty much every morning.  Morning running has been slower and slower (surprise surprise) as I get older and generally slower.  It just seems mornings it is even harder to get warmed-up and going.  Typically my first and last mile are at least a minute apart and sometimes closer to 1:30.  Running under 8:00 pace in the morning is a rarity.  This year I’ve only broken 8’s 17 times.  My first sub 48 for 6 miles was back in January, then twice in Feb.  Then a LONG gap due to injury and the long return from a torn hamstring.  I take some solace that in the last 6 weeks I’ve managed 14 of the 17 sub 8 efforts.
