This week

Well, after 7 weeks of running I’m up to 70 miles. I’ve steadily increased mileage each week and tried not to rush back, the last time I ran over 70 was August right before I got injured. I’m still struggling with Posterior Tibia Tendonitis but it has maintained at a 5 (on a scale of 10) and I don’t appear to be favoring it. Although some may argue that my form is so bad it would be hard to tell if I am favoring.

I’ve been tired all week, partly from the travel back from Reno and partly from a late night Thursday. Cath and I went to Tupelo and saw Carbon Leaf. They were really good; they played most of the favorites and as a bonus gave us all a greatest hits mix (for free) at the end of the concert. They said it was for coming out on such a lousy night (it was the night of the big ice storm).

On Saturday the CMS team did well at the Assault on Mt Hood. I felt like I’d been assaulted afterward! We took the team title again with Joe getting outkicked for the win. Ben led the race in the early miles, and Dan in typical fashion had a lousy start. Actually for him it was worse than ‘normal’; he didn’t go by me until at least ½ mile in. Word was he got caught behind the Malden Catholic XC team and they may have been mad as I had inadvertently flipped them off before the race. The race was billed as 3.5 but had to be more like 3.7. It was hilly as usual, but if possible had more paved than ever. I thought the Andover XC race took the prize for the most pave XC course but now I think it is Melrose. In their defense, they had to avoid a lot of ice which made for some interesting sections where you’d run for 10 yards on grass then on the path then right back. You really had to pay attention to where the flags where at all times. It is a wonder Dan found his way as all he ever sees is his own feet.
