Woodford, Vermont 3.5 mile snowshoe race
I thought the course would run a little quick this year and comparing results to last year definitely proved that out. Thirteen of the top 25 had raced at Woodford last year. Only winner Josh Ferenc and I ran slower than last year. Josh was 31 seconds slower and I was 39 seconds slower. Josh may have run just hard enough to win (he won by 48 seconds), but I have no excuse. I ran all-out last year and ran as fast as I could this year. My form is definitely not what it was last year, but I’m slowly gaining ground. The average improvement for the top 25 was 3:28, with Eddie Habeck having the biggest improvement (5:28) and John Pelton having the least (2:16). Some of the improvement might be attributed to the course getting faster as more people packed down the snow.
