I was looking over some historical stats for my “looking back” blog post and I noticed that Brian Harvey ran an excellent 31:33 at Bridge of Flowers a few days ago. According to what I was able to dig up, his time is the 16th fastest ever run on the course. Perhaps more interesting, it is the fastest time by an American runner. Back in 1996 I finished second to Houssine Siba who broke Ken Kaczenski’s course record of 31:40…so I’m pretty sure I captured all of the sub-32 times and definitely captured all of the sub-31:40 times. Needless to say, the course is tough. My guess has been that it runs about 1 minute slower than a flat course.
Here are the fastest times by USA runners:
31:33 Brian Harvey – 2011 (BAA)
31:40 Ken Kaczenski - ???? (USA )
31:42 Dave Dunham – 1996 (CMS)
31:44 Nate Jenkins – 2006 (Saucony)
31:48 Malcolm Campbell – 2000 (Atlanta TC)
31:49 Nate Jenkins – 2004 (GLRR)
31:55 Brian Harvey – 2010 (BAA)
And here are all the sub-32 times I could find:

30:50 Charles Sang – 2001 (Kenya )
30:52 Alene Reta – 2007 (Ethiopia )
30:55 Daniel Kihara – 1997 (Kenya )
30:58 Paul Mwangi – 2000 (Kenya )
31:02 Paul Mbugua – 2000 (Kenya )
31:05 Genn Tufa – 2008 (Kenya )
31:06 Deniboba Derese – 2008 (Kenya )
