My run at the An Ras Mor 5k was less than inspired but I was
happy to be able to run. It marked two
milestones for me. It was my first race
as a senior (50+ age group) and my 100th USATF New England road
grand prix race. It took me 28 years to
get 100 races and I’ve sure had fun along the way. There have only been 205 GP races since the series was created in
1985, so hopefully it won’t be long until I pass the halfway mark.
I’ve had pretty good luck at the Grand Prix having won 14
individual titles and won the overall series title a record 8 times. The closest I’ve come to winning the series
in recent years was a second place to Wayne Levy (BAA) in the 45-49 age group
two years ago. With a lot of very good
50-54 runners, and even more good 49 year-old runners who will join the age
group next year, it’ll be tough picking up another title. I’d like to get a title but more importantly
I’d like to just be out there giving it my best. Onward!
