I have two course records set in February that have survived the test of time. My record for the Fudgesicle series 5k will reach 20 years this weekend. On 02-09-91 I set the CR of 14:57. That year I attempted to win a series race in the 14’s, 15’s 16’s, and 17’s. All Fudgesicle results for me below:
Date | Time | Place |
01/05/91 | 16:23 | 1 |
01/19/91 | 15:59 | 1 |
01/26/91 | 16:17 | 1 |
02/09/91 | 14:57 | 1 |
02/16/91 | 17:10 | 1 |
01/02/99 | 16:45 | 2 |
01/14/06 | 17:49 | 3 |
01/21/06 | 17:30 | 3 |
02/18/06 | 17:52 | 2 |
02/25/06 | 17:49 | 2 |
02/04/07 | 19:28 | 1 |
02/17/07 | 18:23 | 3 |
01/03/09 | 18:00 | 2 |
My other existing course record is a bit weaker, but will also hit a milestone this year. My 24:31 at the 1996 Bradford Valentines race will reach 15 years next week. I think if Nate Jenkins shows up he could easily break it, of course with the 7 feet of snow we’ve had this winter most of the course will be snow covered.
I’ve only run Bradford 3 times. The 1997 race was a tie with Craig Fram. Our plan was to run the loop twice as a hard workout. The goal being 26:00 at 5 and 52:00 at 10. We passed the first loop (the race) in 25:54 and slowed a bit in the second loop running it (not counting the time from the finish to the start) in another 26:31 for a total of 52:25. That has got to be a course record for the “Bradford Valentines 10 mile”.
Date | Time | Place |
02/10/96 | 24:31 | 1 |
02/08/97 | 25:54 | 1tie |
02/14/09 | 28:49 | 9 |
