I’ve
kept track of the “Dan versus Dave” rivalry as Verrington and I have raced each
other more times than anyone else we’ve raced. It seems like we always
invite the other along to races or we’ve been interested in many of the same
races. We have been pretty evenly matched over the years. I started
2018 off with a “win” over Dan getting him by 39 seconds at the Frosty Four in
Salem on New Year’s Day. That was the 292nd time we’ve raced
each other and the breakdown is pretty even with me topping Dan 160 times and
Dan finishing ahead of me 132 times. Oddly 2017 was one of the few years
in a long time that either one of us beat the other in every meeting. I
was 9-0 against Dan in 2017. The last time I beat him in every race in a
year was in 2013 but we only met once that year. Dan beat me in almost
every race we did for about a 10 year stretch from 2002-2012, including
shutting me out going 10-0 in 2005 and 5-0 in 2004.

Ok this is way more awesome than this little post represents. A rivalry of 292 races? That is amazing. It has to be a record or near one. Well done to both of you.
