I’m looking forward to racing at the Lynn
Woods relay this week. It is always a fun and competitive event.
Two years ago I put together a (mostly) CMS squad of Senior’s (50+ age group)
with the expressed goal of breaking the record. We finished 52 seconds
under the old record. Last year I dug up the guys (Dan Verrington, Dave
Quintal, and Joe Shairs) who also own the current Master’s (40+ age group)
record with the goal of having the same guys also take the Senior record.
It was a hot and humid night and although we won the Seniors category and took
5th place overall it wasn’t enough. Our 66:05 was the 6th
fastest ever by a Senior squad. We’ll be back at it again, hoping to take
down that record. In the history of the race 70 minutes has only been
broken 15 times by Senior teams.
