WMAC - 2000-2015 – I became a member of the
Western Mass Athletic Club after doing my first snowshoe races out in Hawley
MA. WMAC also put on the trail series but I was more interested in
snowshoe. As with Orienteering I’ve had to move away from snowshoe racing
as it is very tough on my ankles. Over the last few years most of the
WMAC snowshoe series has become a NY series (and a couple in VT), partly due to
lack of race directors (everyone misses Ed Alibozek) and partly due to changing
snow conditions.
Atlas snowshoe - 2002 – 2010 – Richard Bolt hooked me up with Atlas. I got a couple of pair of very nice racing snowshoes and a little bit of gear. I ran snowshoe nationals a couple of times rocking the bright yellow “bumble-bee” outfit.
GLRR (yes, again) - 2002-present (lifetime) – In 2002 the Greater Lowell Road Runners inducted me into their Hall of Fame. A lifetime membership came along with the honor. This was a big surprise and I’m proud to be a member of GLRR yet again!
La Sportiva - 2002 - 2008 – La Sportiva and Go-Lite were getting into mountain running and I got recruited (despite being well past my best years). I got a little bit of gear and some shoes.
Gate City Striders - 2007 – 2015 – Dave Camire was coaching at GCS and got me signed on to do the summer track coaching for the longer distance folks. I had a lot of fun at the Nashua track on Wednesday nights. For the most part the group (like most groups of adult runners) was completely un-coachable. It was still fun coming up with workouts. I ran a couple of races in the GCS singlet including a leg of the Mill City Relay one year. Fun group!
DRC - 2008 – Present (lifetime) – The Dunham Running Club was created by my sisters. I got an honorary membership. Love the “Billerica Green” singlet. We put together a number of teams at the (now defunct) Mine Falls 10 mile relay which was always fun. The official drink of the club has to be shots of Fireball Whisky.
Granite State Racing team – 2019 – Present
– I joined up with this really fun group for the enjoyable weekend long
runs. I was also scouting for some runners for my CARS team. The
tight knit squad also has track workouts and some competitive bikers, all very
attractive to me. Great camaraderie!
