30 years ago (May 1993): My aim during this month was to get a couple of CMS series finishes (I needed 26 for a sweatshirt) and to run fast at the New England 8km championships. On 05/12 I ran through a CMS series race in 20:23. The following weekend I wrote that I “felt lousy” but I put together a 14:40 CMS series 5k win. That would be the second fastest time on the Worcester loop trailing my CR. Four days later I finished in third place at the USATF (then NEAC) 8km championships at Agawam with a step under 24 minutes (23:59). Since neither of the guys in front of me were from the USA I took the New England title. A week later (05/30) I finished in first over 10k in the Dracut State forest. The race was put on by Thera-fit (my PT at the time). I ran 31:46 despite the course and the 5:30pm race start time.
