I’ve never been a big fan of age grading especially when money is involved. It just doesn’t seem fair to hang out cash when you don’t even have the opportunity to compete head to head (you never know what 70 year old is running really fast 20 minutes behind you). I do enjoy looking at the results as a fun diversion. Personally the age grading for me is starting to catch up to the times I ran as an open runner….

While I don't mind cross ranking master runners, I don't like the comparison against open times.

Age grading is terribly flawed.
Who are we kidding?
Leave being young to the young.
We all had the same amount of days in our twenties. No person has more than ten years in each decade.

I find it odd that many of my age grading times move closer to the times of my prime years as I get older. yet, I do not train nearly as hard, have the same mental or physical ability that I had as a hungry 25 year old.
Additionally, there are guys I used to clobber when we were in our primes but now they beat me steadily, and their age graded times are WAY better than the times of their prime.

For-Us-By-Us stuff makes skeptical.
(age grading is designed by old people) Foxes guarding the henhouse.

I think we all should just face it, WE ARE EFFING OLDER and have tens and hundreds of thousands of miles on our legs. We used it up when it mattered. I would be embarrassed to have too much left at this age.
I run for fun, and I love to race, but I sure as hell cannot compete with the studs in their youth, physically or mentally. I don't like anything that tries to *even* the table. It's just not fair to the kids banging it out now.

and that's all I have to say about that!

I remember when Hodgie won the 40+ at Mt W but got zero $$. Just not right.
