October was something of a disappointment…with a hamstring injury leaving me unable to race. I offset that by doing a lot of running at a very slow pace. In fact, my total of 452 miles for the month is the most I’ve done since May of 2002. The pace however is probably the slowest I’ve ever run for an entire month.
I checked this against my two biggest mileage months and found that the nearly 66 hours of running I did this month is the most time I’ve ever run in a month.
In May of 2002 I had my biggest month, running 513 miles (16.55 per day). The total time I ran that month was 63:52:50 or 2:03:38 per day. That works out to an average pace of 7:28 per mile. The next biggest month was October of 1992 when I ran 509 miles. During that month I ran a total of 60:48:37 or 1:57:42 per day, which equals an average pace of 7:10.
