Tower Quest – Part 3
From Abenaki tower I headed north through Sandwich toward the trailhead for Mt Israel (tower #55 for me). I parked at Mead base and was on the trail quickly after changing into a pair of Loco racing flats. The trail was pretty nice, dry and good footing. There was a good mix of steeper climbing with much more gentle climb. Near the very top there was a little bit of bare rock but no exposure and not much in the way of views. The summit had views but no tower artifacts. The round trip run took me 64 minutes for 4 miles. I finished up the day on my favorite peak, Oak Hill Fire Tower with a nice relaxing run up/down the dirt road.
