20 years ago – (May 2000) - I had a pretty good May with the highpoint being a 5th place finish at the 12k NE championships.  I logged some decent mileage with weeks of 105, 90, 100, and 100.  I hadn’t been feeling very good for a while and early in the month got shots for hep-A and Lyme!  I started out the month (05/06/00) with a third place at Mt Kearsarge.  Eric Morse took a stab at my course record (51:02) but came up just a bit short (51:22). Craig Fram set an amazing 40+ record of 52:31 and the 7th fastest time ever recorded. I ran 53:08.

The next weekend (05/14/00) I finished in fourth behind Dan Verrington, Mike O’Brien and Eric Beauchesne in 15:35 at the Kittery Outlet race. I think this was an out/back to a cone in the road. Teammate Richard Bolt nearly got me at the end and he was coming off an injury and had only been running for 3 days!

The following weekend (05/20/00) I finished fifth at the USATF 12km championships in Bedford running a 38:13. I noted in my training log that I felt “awful with hamstring and ankle both lousy”.  CMS had an incredible day taking 7 of the top 8 spots.  Mike Nahom and Richard Bolt finished in 7th and 8th place and didn’t score for the team!

1 Mark Donahue CMS (age 41)   36:48

2 Craig Fram WRT (age 41)        37:13

3 Eric Morse CMS                       37:34

4 Byrne Decker CMS                  38:07

5 Dave Dunham CMS                 38:14

6 Larry Sayers CMS (age 40)      38:15

7 Mike Nahom CMS                    38:20

8 Richard Bolt CMS                    38:23

9 Eric Beauchesne GLRR            38:27

I finished out the month (05/27/00) with a second place finish 35 seconds behind Eric Morse (24:32) in 25:17 at Wachusett Mountain.  Not much to say, I tried to go with Eric and he was gone by the mile.
