25 years ago – (May 1995) - I had a busy month with five races, mixing it up with roads and mountain and 5k to 25k while putting in an average of 90 miles per week. I started the month (05/07/95) with a second place finish to Scott Bagley at the CMHC 10 mile in Worcester picking up $1,000 for my 50:45. A pack of 10 formed early with many CMS runners (Rich Marion leading). I went very hard at 5 miles throwing in a 4:49 mile and only Bagley, Mike Nahom and Gary Gardner stuck. Bagley pulled away around 8.5 miles and I broke from the others at the same time but could not get back to Bagley.
The following weekend I went to Grand Rapids MI for the US 25km National championship (Old Kent Bank River Run). I ended up 13th in 1:20:44. 3 mile splits showed a pretty steady first 9 miles then a bit of a slowdown. (15:20/15:23/15:30/15:57/15:50).

The following weekend (05-21-95) I attempted a double at the Bedford Rotary 5k/12k. I ran the 12k as controlled as possible and took the win in 40:22 on a mad dash to the line. Right after that I did a 3 mile warm-up for the 5k then attempted a second win. Teammate Byrne Decker to it out hard (4:38) to test my legs. I did not have a response and ended up taking second in 15:08.
