Workout

We had the track to ourselves again this week as the Phillips Andover team was competing at an away meet.  Temperatures were ideal but the wind was somewhat brisk.  You never make up in the tailwind what you lost in the headwind.  The goal for this workout was to really zero in on 5:20 pace, what we’ve been calling “optimistic 5k pace”.  Dan and I both want to go through the opening mile in 5:20 at the Delta Dental race on Friday night.  I felt pretty lousy during the day but not too bad during the workout.  As usual we alternated leading which makes these workouts a lot easier.  Hopefully this work will pay off at the 12k champs in May and other races later in the season.  Time will tell…
